This weekend is the big Cake International show at Excel in London and there is a huge buzz of excitement in the office as we get ready. Zoe, Katie and I are all heading down to meet Nicola, the resident expert from our My Cupcake Club magazine. Nicola is going to be doing some amazing demonstrations on the stand so make sure you pop by and have a look! I’m excited because I get to do some demonstrations in the same theatre as Paul Bradford. Have I told you that I met him? He is an amazing cake decorating gunu and he has invited me to teach in his studio – more to follow when the info is confirmed…

As well as that excitement I’ve also been lucky enough to go to a few Hobbycraft stores recently to do some in store demonstrations of our beautiful Tattered Lace dies. It is so much fun to get out there and meet crafters in store because being in a craft store is such an inspiring place. Thank you to everyone who has been to say hello at Solihull and Greenford this week! As I mentioned before we have been finalising our Hobbycraft papercraft range and this week it is all being packed ready to be in store very soon.

Also this week we are packing lots of brand new Tattered Lace dies ready for our next POD on Ideal World which launches next week, every time a delivery van arrives these days everyone in the office holds their breath while we find out if it is more stunning designs coming in or a regular delivery of everyday crafty goodness! Nancy has been making samples for these and the results, once again, are simply astounding.

Talking of Ideal World did you know it’s their birthday this week? From 5pm tonight the birthday celebrations on Ideal World and Create & Craft are unleashed – it is so exciting and there are some absolutely fantastic shows lined up with amazing products and brands……I’ll see you there!

Then yesterday I did more painting on cakes in my show with Martyn on Create & Craft, to show how easy it is to master the technique Martyn painted a rose to finish off my cake, and he did a fabulous job of it too. The stencils were a great success once again, in fact I think people were waiting for them to come back in stock because we hardly showed them and they sold really quickly again! I am now working with everyone behind the scenes to plan a regular cake show on Create & Craft, more news on that to follow when we confirm the day & time.

I’m back in the office today, although it feels like I’ve lost my right arm as I can’t find my phone but at least its been a quiet day! Today I’ve been working with the graphics team on new dies, new paper kits for Hobbycraft and then I’m going to do some more sewing on my step-daughter’s wedding dress. This is one of my most exciting projects of the year.

If anyone is going to the cake show in Manchester this weekend I will be there with my sister Zoe, even though we work together its a while since we had any quality time together so I am really looking forward to it, I hope to see you there…

What we definately didn’t expect was to arrive at the studios for the 8am show on Wednesday and for it to have sold out completely overnight! Even all of the other dies on the show had gone so there was absolutely nothing left for us to show.

Poor Nancy had lots of beautiful demos ready to show everyone how to work with the dies to get different results and she only managed to get a few done in the two live hours that we managed to do, at least we are ready with more demos for when we eventually get the product back in stock in the future!

Our fabulous graphic design team have been busily beavering away behind the scenes with these designs for months and there are many more in the pipeline so I will keep you updated in this column but keep an eye on the Tattered Lace Dies facebook page and website www.tatteredlace.co.uk for updates going forwards, we also have lots of ideas and inspiration on there too.

We started the day with a cuppa and a gossip before getting down to some serious crafting! The ladies had a sneak peek of our Pick of the Day for next week – Vintage Charm, it’s absolutely gorgeous. We made notebooks, pillow boxes, mini card sets, and a card, envelope and wrap. Then after lunch we played with the most beautiful Tattered Lace butterfly die, some double sided adhesive sheets and gilding flakes, we got some fabulous results and the ladies all went home feeling inspired, even though the snow started again just as they were about to leave.

Now it’s back to work…..more crafting!
