Birthday Competition…

Posted on by Stephanie

It’s that time of year again, show season is upon us and I’m so excited to be doing cake shows as well as craft shows once again! To celebrate, and because there is lots of talk of cake in the office due to there being two birthdays this weekend….

I have two pairs of tickets to the Cake International Show on the 8th – 10th March 2013 at Event City in Manchester to give away!

So I’d like to know your favourite type of cake! Simply reply to this thread with your favourite cake, feel free to share recipes too, and we will draw two winners who will receive a pair of tickets each at 12 noon on Monday 4th March 2013.

Good luck x

Lovely Weekend…

Posted on by Stephanie

Hello crafters, it’s Monday again, how was your weekend? Mine was great fun….

Nancy and I spent Saturday demonstrating at the Colemans Warehouse in Rushden, and boy did we make a mess! After a great fun launch show on Create and Craft with the lovely Martyn Parker, I was demonstrating our fantastic cake stencils and had a great time while Nancy was enjoying working with the fabulous Faux Laser kit for the day, we struggled to decide who had the prettiest product!

It truly was a fabulous day and once again we were lucky enough to meet lots of lovely crafters. One of my favourite parts of the job that I do is to share my passion for craft with the crafters that I meet along the way and I know Nancy feels the same because she was so keen to come and demo for the day that she went away for weekend, came to the demo day and went back to her weekend away, now that’s dedication for you!

I’m not going to be on Create & Craft until next week now, so I’m having a busy week with a couple of meetings this week and its my birthday this weekend so I will be having a lovely family weekend with quite a few people coming round for dinner and maybe a glass of wine or two…

Until next time….

Happy Crafting!

Behind the scenes….

Posted on by Stephanie

I can honestly say I have just had one of the best weeks for ages.  Last week saw me start back at Ideal World and Create and Craft as a Craft Presenter. I didn’t realise how much I missed the crafters and the team there.  I was more than a little nervous on the first day, but everyone at Create and Craft made me so welcome. I had a good catch up with Leonie, the amazing Nigel May bought chocolate cake and glitter berry fruit juice, which we feasted on for breakfast!   and I spent all weekend doing POW shows with the lovely Nancy Watt and laughing just the way crafting should be. I was particularly lucky as I also managed to squeeze in a show with Ann Marie McGuire and Hunkydory on Saturday and the award winning Barbara Gray on Sunday. I could have forgotten I was even presenting, it was like having a personal lesson from Barbara. So all in all, not a bad weekend, I don’t think anyone noticed I spilt a cup of water during a show and spent 20 minutes with wet feet! Or that I demolished the pack shot, where we displayed the Pick of the Week and ended up giggling. Nancy made the odd card upside down and the front fell off another, so it was business as usual and I don’t feel as if I have ever been away.  I have missed the fun and it is fabulous to be part of what has to be the biggest collective team of craft experts in any one place.  More of behind the scenes in a few days time……..

Posted on by Stephanie

Tomorrow I will be launching the brand new My Paper Stash Pick of the Week ‘Faux Lasers’.  Faux Lasers are a new and exciting concept in paper crafting, helping you achieve laser cut looks through inexpensive but exciting crafting!  Yippee!

The kit itself contains 24 A4 glittered and die cut sheets in 6 beautiful colour ways and each sheet includes 4 die cut toppers, 4 die cut butterflies and 4 die cut sentiments!

Nancy, Diane, Jayne and I have spent the morning creating samples from every sheet to show you the extent of the versatility you’ll get from this kit!  As usual I can’t wait to show them to you..  So I’m not going to wait!!

Here we are taking 5 minutes to catch up with a much needed cuppa amongst the organised chaos that is my craft room!

Tidy Tales…

Posted on by Stephanie

Hi everyone, this week I have started the mammoth task of tidying my craft room. How do you keep yours tidy? Or even DO you keep yours tidy!

I’ve set myself a task of doing a little bit of tidying every day so that gradually over the next couple of weeks the room will have a miraculous transformation and in a few weeks it will look like the craft fairies have been in and turned it into my own little craft room instead of the mess that it has been in for the last few months, this might not last but I’m hoping that it will!

Nancy and I have worked out what we ‘need’ and Karl has made me some lovely ribbon storage from some old wood and poles that we had. Nancy volunteered to arrange all of my ribbon in colour and texture order.

Well she had spent over half an hour sorting out the first collection, picked up the pole to put it back on the organiser, tipped it up and all the ribbon fell off onto the floor and she had to start again, we did laugh about it so I’m sure she won’t mind me telling you!

Welcome to 2013!

Posted on by Stephanie

Happy New Year! I don’t know about you but I always feel that every New Year feels like it’s been a long time coming from the beginning of the Christmas build up but every year that passes flies by faster than the one before.

I had a lovely relaxing break, which started with our company Christmas party that we held at our house. Now there are lots of stories about the party but what happens at the team MCS Christmas party stays at the team MCS Christmas party!

As most of us do during the Christmas and new year period, I spent a lot of time reflecting on 2012. It was an incredibly exciting and busy year for me from both a work and a personal point of view.

Towards the end of the year I completed my first two cake decorating books which are due to be released this year. This was very exciting for me as I love decorating cakes and earlier in 2012 we also released our free online cupcake magazine – have you seen it yet? Visit www.mycupcakeclub.co.uk to see the first three issues. Each magazine is filled with ideas, recipes and inspiration and we now have some regular contributors for it too so if you have any questions we can always get the experts to answer them for you!

From a personal point of view I’ve spent more time at home this year than I have for many years so Grace and Arthur are once again my new best friends, then again they tend to be best friends with whoever opens the biscuit barrel…. Grace has also worked out that if she sits in the right place when I’m decorating a cake she can get a bit of a sugar high from the dust in the air but she hasn’t quite worked out why it doesn’t happen when I’m papercrafting!

I’m so excited about all of our plans for 2013, I can’t wait to start sharing some of our secrets with you….

Oh and PS! My new year’s resolution this year is to be a better blogger so come back regularly for a catch up. Do you have any new year’s resolutions?
